Born in Mexico City in 1984. Drawing from her fondness for drawing, she began her studies in a self-taught way in 1998. Her training focuses specifically on the human figure, drawing, sculpture and painting under the tutelage of Artists such as Andrés Pérez, Roberto Cortázar, Guillermo Mollinedo, Margosk, Claire Becker, Marco Lamoyi and Arturo Rivera. Obtains the scholarship of Young Creators of the State Council for the Culture and the Arts. He has won prizes in several drawing contests since 2004. She has participated in important national and international exhibitions. She currently resides in Chiapas. Conceptually, María Nava's work focuses on her own psyche, using figurative techniques as a means of projecting an introspective and unconscious symbolic content. Her meticulous and obsessive technique starts from the opposite of spontaneity, from an obsessive perfectionism in the inquiry in the Self, in the deepening of the obscure and fragile part of the human. A constant of her work have been the self-portraits, the spaces without contexts, the bodies placed in an empty at the time that defy their own identity.
