ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The painter is inspired by all kinds of landscapes. He is not painting a landscape that exists but he is fantasising. The artist starts with the decision where to put the horizon and he is creating the rest of the composition in a very intuitive way. This painting was created in the first covid-19 lockdown and was meant to bring a little bit warmth and colour back into peoples life.

Jan (Wierden 1948). In the beginning he painted how it was teached, in a realistic and impressionistic way. Bit by bit the landscapes lost their horizons and their structure of creating space. More an more his work became expressionistic and abstract. Music, especially classical music is a big source of inspiration. Nowadays he is painting a serie with 'Fantasy Landscapes' so the horizon is back! Jan won together with his partner Laura Rominu the third price in AIAF, the international Art Fair in Amsterdam.
