About The Artwork
My father, Harry Bennett, was a fine painter and designer of expressive power. He was my mentor and major influence. My figurative work reflects this influence in unconscious ways, which lend the contextual strength to the work. This piece is one of an ongoing series of the figure at rest. The symbolism inherent is both personal and universal in nature. The underpainting here is actually a monotype, made with oil based inks and paint, that I have reworked with oil paint overlays.
