Ryo Hoshi is a self-taught artist, painter and photographer, primarily focused on portraits of musician, ballet dancers, writers, artists, and public figures. His works captures intimate moments and characters of each subject to make the viewers feel what would it be like to be in front of the particular subject, or being in direct communication, eye to eye contact with him or her. His works are much charged with emotion, movements, and flow to make this experience vibrating and leave lasting impression on viewers' heart. Although the artist's subject matter tends to be larger than usual daily life, the contents presented are all around us: kindness, determination, single-mindedness, artistism, sense of beauty, longing feeling, goodness of heart.
