The modern painter known as Ilya Yod is perhaps one of the most eccentric figurative painters working today. His most well-known paintings feature figures composed of multiple small cubes, which disrupt the conventional way of seeing the human form, challenge self-perception, and question humanity. Yod uses computer technology to achieve the very complex shapes of his cubic personages, which he often paints with acrylic on canvas. Marked by his unique approach to the human form, contemporary vision, and striking shapes and colours, Yod's paintings have gained increasing acclaim. However, the artist does not appear in the media, as he does not want viewers to be influenced by his face or persona. A rising artist, Ilya Yod has been dedicated to his craft for over ten years, beginning his formal training at the age of eight. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Practices from the École Européenne Supérieure de l'Image in Poitiers, France, in 2010. In 2018, he was longlisted in the Contemporary Visions international juried exhibition, hosted by the BEERS London gallery. His work has also been exhibited in more than 15 international exhibitions, including Skurril (2018) at Marler Kunststern in Marl, Germany, Sacred Art (2019) at Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Senlis, France, and Hide and seek (2022) at Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow, Russia. This is testament to his growing reputation.
