About The Artwork

The sport of fishing is one of patience and timing. In this painting called Fishing Rod with Tackle, I was inspired to capture a scene that is nostalgic and steeped in the allure of lakeside fishing history and the evolution of the tools of the sport. In Fishing Rod with Tackle the line is waiting for the fisherman to set it. There is a sense of anticipation for the viewer to move into action and set the scene and start fishing! One artist who inspires me continually is WInslow Homer who was best known for his Marine subjects. I chose this subject matter to bring attention to our rapidly changing environment and to honor the sport of fishing and those who participate, enjoy it and preserve it.
