ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In 2004, the Manawatu River (which flows through the city of Palmerston North in New Zealand) flooded. It carried away houses, boulders, pregnant women and cows. Everyone traipsed down to the riverbank with their cameras, against all official advice. I was there too, recording it for future use in a painting. And I wrote a song about it. The bridge is concrete, with one or two streaks, but nowhere near as colorful as this. Why didn't they make it this color to start with?
