About The Artwork
Flawed is number three of a series showing people covered in black and white earth that is cracked. Somehow it is difficult to distinguish where the earth ends and the person begins. Do the cracks also reach the human being? Is the earth just a mask to hide? Is this mask beginning to break down? What is being revealed? Does the earth represent the planet earth beginning to dry out, to crumble and to break down? I always love to hear what the viewer sees in my paintings. But these where questions I asked myself during the process of developing the motive. There are many more questions and ways of interpreting the portraits. Whatever topic is prominent in the viewer’s life might reflect in the picture.
