Inspired by the view upon approaching Florence in Italy, this contemporary landscape oil painting captures the spring heat and sweeping views of the city and distant hills. The River Arno leads your eye towards the hills, whilst the abstract quality of the fluid brush marks reflect the wildness of the countryside that surrounds the city. The heat of the day is felt in the misty quality of the light. Soft pastel colours are used and terracotta tones, with greens and blues to recreate this serene scene. Ready to hang. The edges of the canvas are painted white, so that this artwork can be displayed either unframed or framed. This artwork is painted on gesso primed, stretched Italian linen, using artist quality Michael Harding oil paint. This painting is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Artwork will be carefully wrapped in tissue paper, foam board and recycled/recyclable bubble wrap and placed in a sturdy cardboard box for shipping.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature.
