About The Artwork
Floore Country Store #6 is a part of my series from the late 90's to early 2000's called WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS, Dance Inside the Historic Dance Halls of Texas. As a dancer myself, I took on this series about dancers and old dance halls in Texas at the suggestion of a former dealer of mine. The series has had numerous regional museum exhibitions in Texas, and is once again going to tour a part of Texas. This time, it will be NE Texas. Longview Museum of Art, Longview, Tx; the Pearce Museum, Corsicana, TX; and hopefully Jesuit School in Dallas. Watch this space. My style is almost expressionist, using oil on canvas to help you feel the passion of people dancing to the music, engaging with neighbours having sometimes driven 100 miles to get there. I hope you get the feel of the place, the lighting, and how I felt when I was there with my film camera, shooting unobtrusively on very fast film.
