Richard Lee Barton was born in Arkansas (1952) and moved to Belgium when he was nineteen, where he developed an own style in painting. He came in contact with two Flemish masters who gave him lessons for several years: the realist Louis Jacques Camerlinckx (1920-1989) and the expressionist Staf van Elzen (1915-1987), he took a course at the Academy of Antwerp. At first he painted impressionistic landscapes, later he developed a more expressionist style, and also painted abstract flowers and figures. Years later, his work moved towards a more abstract expressionistic direction. After 9/11, he painted only flowers for a time, creating colorful works on a very positive way. His talent was seen at a very young age, when he was fifteen he won the State Prize of the drawing, an important award. In Belgium, he founded an art group called "Asikan 22.40". This art group came together as a reaction to society and was formed by a number of artists who organized exhibitions together, especially in Belgium. Former President Bill Clinton visited a number of exhibitions of Richard Lee Barton in Little Rock and HM Queen Beatrix has "‹"‹one of his works in her collection. The paintings of Richard Lee Barton are very colorful and remain beautiful, even after years you will see new forms and striking shades. These works have a very unusual appearance, they inspire and give you a good feeling. The works are very spontaneous and built layer by layer. They are rich in color and it`s easy to daydream. The quality is strong and expressive. The positive effect of the work cannot easily describe in words, you must see the work in real life. There were many exhibitions of his work, one of the breakthroughs was the presence of his work at pAn Amsterdam, an important Dutch art fair. He was represented by Galerie Mia Joosten. Richard Lee Barton was setting a new direction, the work was much lighter and became more abstract. According to Uri Geller, he is one of the best painters in the field of abstract expressionism. The Barton landscapes are famous.
