Born in Romania in 1977 in the city of Nadia Comaneci her childhood was all about Sports. In 1997 she moved to beautiful city Bucharest and in 2002 graduated Sport University there. Since 2002 she lives permanently in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. At the age of 25 Marlene Schanz started intuitively to create her world full of colors and Emotions, using no brush, no easel, just her hands, canvas on the floor, being guided by her life and feelings. Today she still paints in the same form. She finds herself painting, increasingly expressing emotion and allowing them to guide her in expressing itself. The Inspiration is to be found everywhere, in life, the past and the present, in deep emotions, in dreams, in nature, in colors, in moments, love. Being a painter is a process, a journey. She believes in creating something that not only speaks to her but is able to take the viewer on their own personal journey. Marlene Schanz works are in strong colors and fill some large, some smaller formats. Her painting shows expressionist, surreal and abstract traits, but there is always a tension, an emotion in her presentation. Not only she shows an abstract skyline in a decorative way, but olso create a field of tension between melancholy and departure, between amusement and cloudiness. "Artista" representational painting moves between dream and emotion. She tells stories, fairy tales, tales of dream worlds and let the viewer search for the pictures behind the pictures. The thoughts are free, at least with the viewer. She created her own world, so called "Marlenism" and this is the meaning: "…about losing time…and finding an empty space… about winning love and lasting again… about catching the Moment and lasting forever… about losing life and finding another world… about having wings…and flying with it… about losing direction but finding the Spirit about finding yourself and dreaming of serenity about feeling the touch of an angel and playing with the Devil It is love It is silence It is pain It is all It is Marlenism. Marlene Schanz had several exhibitions in the years 2012 to 2018. She is represented in numerous private art collections in Germany, USA, Canada, Romania, Italy and in online galleries.
