ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting was inspired by my travels and studies in Rome and the image is derived from a small coastal town of Sperlonga just outside of Rome. A shallow flowing stream with flowing sea grasses caught my attention under a bridge crossing. By contrasting colours and linework I saw both below the water and reflected on the surface I have attempted to capture the depths in the layers. This work is part of my solo exhibition 'Sopra Sotto' (meaning above and below) and will be exhibited at TOAF Sydney march 2018. Oil paint and oil stick on Belgian Linen framed with a charcoal timber floating frame and hanging hooks.
