ABOUT THE ARTWORK

As a child, everyone probably loves foxes. This red-haired character of many fairy tales for their gorgeous tail, for their beauty, cunning, agility, and ability to get out of any difficult situations. How many times have you actually encountered a live, real fox? I've met five maybe six time, if don't count the foxes I've seen at the zoo. The first time I actually met a fox was at farm close to Shrewsbury, when it tried to attack chickens in front of me. The other time I saw two little foxes in the early morning in the Wimbledon area of London. But the most memorable encounter happened in the woods not far from home. I was walking along the forest path and felt someone's eyes on me, I turned around cautiously and saw a big fox sitting a little away on a hill, who was watching me carefully. We said a polite hello and went our separate ways. What can I say... that's how I painted him ?

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
