Free swallow Painting

The Arraiolos Carpet is made with "Ponto de Arraiolos", an outstretched cross stitch perfected by the seamstresses of Arraiolos, a charming village in southern Portugal. Needle work, hand embroidered on jute canvas with wool. In this piece we start by playing with the beauty of the blue tones, different shapes through the round lines. We chose the swallow for its great connection to the culture of my country, Portugal, symbol of love and loyalty, of home and family. The Portuguese people known for being adventurous, who left their homes to go exploring the world, however always end up returning to their home. Like the swallow, despite being a migratory bird, which explores the corners of the world, once a year, it always returns to its original nest. Made in Portugal, approximately 42.880 stitches hand embroidered with needle.
