As a child, the artist was awestruck by the specimen drawers at the Natural History Museum. There, neatly arranged according to some grown up rules (why weren't the red ones all together?), lay beetles, insects of every kind, stones, shells, birds, eggs--all kinds of natural wonders. She came to find out that they were arranged by kinship and territory, but in this homage piece, she organized birds' eggs from different continents, different habitats, just to suit herself. They came together in a satisfying layout of her own.

Bronle Crosby is a painter of natural world realism with underlying hints of abstraction. Artistically, her goal is to invoke calm and contemplation via her serene paintings of birds, bubbles, and water scenes. She paints focused natural histories and close-up corners of the big picture of life, in rich subtle colors and painterly detail. Her portraits capture the personality and essence of her subject with the same level of sensitivity and craft as all her works, regardless of subject matter. When not in her studio creating new works, Crosby teaches painting and drawing at several San Diego locations, and is also on the board of ArtReach San Diego. Crosby’s work is included in many public collections, including The City of Coronado, Whitman College, and Rancho Valencia Resort. Her paintings are also held in private collections worldwide. In addition to the artist’s solo shows, Crosby’s work has been included in several museum exhibitions throughout California.
