ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was painted in the ancient tradition of egg tempera combined with gilding. The panel was sealed using the traditional gesso method used in the early Renaissance. I'm inspired by the beauty of nature (flowers, fruits, vegetables) and want to convey their jewel-like qualities. I must be a romanticist as I love working in the ancient tradition of egg tempera which is a time-consuming and complex process that leads to a beautiful end product. This painting can be hung or placed on an attractive black 'easel' on a tabletop.

My studio is based in New England in the U.S. where I'm close to nature and my main sources of inspiration fruits, vegetables and landscapes. As an egg tempera painter I find many people know very little about the medium. Therefore, I'm happy to discuss it with you should you be interested in my work. Also painting in oil, I look for the iridescence and jewel-like qualities in my 'models' using both mediums. While I like to push against the precision needed for egg tempera painting, I also like the spontaneity of oil. I play the piano, the cello and do a fair amount of gardening which you'll often see in many of my paintings.
