Whilst mainly Christian in its symbols the painting is more about faith and how one, personally, measures it versus what might be learned and ingrained behaviourally and everything in between. Heaven and hell are both represented and the arc of temptation from left to right. The Great Flood is already upon us and golden bolts of wisdom spread across the lands, whole towns whose own blood would and will be given in acknowledgement of his suffering. At the end of the day, Know Thyself and fly, moving freely in peace and you will find your own rainbow's end. An oil painting on stretched box canvas ready to hang, and did so for ten years in L.A. in a previous collection. A one-off truly collectable piece.

Robert Walker a Suffolk-based fine art painter best known for his 'geo-figurative' works and quirky still lifes. He mainly paints in oils enjoying its multiple technique uses and is currently experimenting in mixed media as he further develops his practice. Intrigued by the semiotics of the figure his newer works derive their meaning based on the model's body language or expression and a chosen perceived cue. This can enjoy many interpretations and oft wrong-foots the viewer creating a new dynamic between artist and observer. He enjoys the interplay of the organic figure together with linear and ovoid geometric forms bound together in tight colour harmonies and compositions, and now leans towards an intuitive approach having studied formal composition and colour theory. His use of figurative ‘electric’ outlines expresses his desire to communicate the potent energy, often latent, that exists within each individual human and his use of 'guard' lines serve to protect the model , solidify his compositions and engineer further spatial depth. As such his work can be considered abstract expressionist. His latest series of works mix his master techniques, and often artistic canons, to deliver a compelling contemporary twist, an avenue that he is keen to continue exploring. He is a Member of the Visual Artists Association an organisation he quotes as having had a huge impact on his attitude and approach towards his work giving him the confidence and support to move forward in sharing it with others. He is also active supporting charity organisations and is currently supporting HeartCharged, a female defibrillation awareness project; aspacebetween, a cancer art therapy organisation providing solace and connection through art in difficult times and worked with The Bow Arts Trust to create the Mick Bateman Award to support artists whose discipline is metal-based sculpture. When he's away from his easel he's most likely to be found with his guitar, reading or travelling and always learning. Please contact curator@saatchiart.com for more details.
