ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a work intuitively rendered and inspired by Goethe's very famous poem Ginkgo Biloba. The text on the artwork reads in English: To my garden here translated, Foliage of the eastern tree. To paint this work I used artist quality acrylic colours as well as spray paint on a Daler Rowney stretched canvas. In the detail shots you can see the different textures of the work. The sides are painted in the colours of the painting so the process of the work can be seen. I added a fixture at the back of the canvas so it is ready to hang without a frame. ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
