ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is the second of the 'Golden City' series, a smaller version. Series first is Mitsumori's very first maiden work. An original mineral painting, made with 24k gold, crushed minerals (natural and synthetic), crushed seashells and gold-coated mica on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has its own story to tell and embodies a sense of connection to the earth. It is highly textured with a matt and rich sand-like appearance. What originally inspired the artist to paint was the cityscapes of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is a city in India known as the “golden city” that gleams in gold-like colors at sunset. The city shimmered like a piece of gold jewelry, reminded Mitsumori of jewelry that retains its shine even after a thousand years. She felt a strong desire to capture them in paintings and set out to do so. Presents the sceneries seen through her eyes in an art form. In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back). Artist: Maria Mitsumori Style: Mineral painting Size: H27 x W45 x D2 cm (10.62 x 17.71 x 0.79 in) Year: 2020

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Mitsumori works in the traditional Japanese art form of mineral painting. She lived and studied at international boarding schools in Switzerland and Hong Kong for 15 years before returning to Japan. Her global upbringing and Japanese roots heavily influence how she sees the world and inform the thematic tendencies in her work, most notably in the ideas of transcending borders and coexisting diversity. Mitsumori considers painting as a tangible way to preserve the abstract, drawing upon the early use of mineral painting as a form of preservation. Creating and showcasing artworks nationally and internationally, Mitsumori has exhibited in London, Dubai, Paris, Singapore, and Tokyo. Her multiple award-winning work has been featured in international exhibitions and is part of public collections.
