Grace Jones Painting

Before Beyonce, there was the one and only Grace Jones. She made many headlines for her onstage antics and drug-fueled partying; her enduring legacy has been her commitment to individuality, her fierce personality, and her defiance of social mores. She was always confronting and breaking down stereotypes when it was unfashionable to be a woman, unafraid to be completely herself. Unafraid of what might be written about her, always raw, unique, visionary and groundbreaking. This work was completed using calligraphy materials, resin and a workflow that allowed the adoption of a rudimentary writing style freed from semantic purpose.Instead deployed to produce an image of an icon that motivates my creative and professional work.
