About The Artwork
I have painted many Greenwich Village scenes in this part of old New York City. This charming double house is now owned by NYU Law School. It was previously owned by Louisa May Alcott's uncle and local legend claims she finished her novel Little Women here. For me besides the charm of the structure, I was struck by the colors of the afternoon light hitting the facade and by the wisteria creeping across the entrance way. The great shadow invites but haunts while the sitter rests and ponders.
