ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I have had an awareness of wolves ever since being a young girl living in Scotland. Just a few hundred years before I was born, wolves were native to the Scottish Highlands. Where once, they were natural predators to the vast deer population, since the wolf has been eradicated the deer's only predator is man and his gun. Much misunderstood, I feel protective of wolves and their families. I love to paint and draw them and I am reminded of their fierce loyalty to their offspring. This painting is made using Sennelier Ink and brush on Khadi pure cotton paper, a beautiful natural paper which is evocative of animal hide. Layers are built up slowly and details of fine hairs are added in an obsessive succession of hours with a tiny brush.

I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
