The setting is the Village on a late summer afternoon. I was fascinated by a father and daughter with a gumball machine outside an IT’SUGAR candy store on Broadway. You can see the reflection of the surrounding buildings in the gumball machine globe.

Award winning realist painter Nick Savides learned to paint from his mother at 3 years old and never stopped. Inspired by the works of Edward Hopper, the quiet energy within his art captures both a palpable sensation of light and of place. Mr. Savides has been published twice by Nabi Press, featuring urban images of New York City and Paris, as well as landscapes of upstate New York.
