hope is the title I chose for this painting that wants to photograph a moment of the extreme journey of a group of migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean. The inspiration for the painting came to me while I was observing a painting by Ajvazovskij in Moscow. Without wishing to deal with the topic of immigration from a political point of view, I think it is up to each of us to question ourselves about the tragedy of millions of people who cross the Mediterranean in extremely dangerous conditions in the name of a better future. Without rhetoric I believe that before any evaluation or personal consideration, for a moment we should try to put ourselves in the shoes of those who climb on those boats, leaving everything and everyone in the name of Hope.

My artistic journey revolves around the exploration of two distinct yet interconnected themes: the chiaroscuro portraiture of predominantly female subjects and the depiction of mass-produced everyday objects transformed into unique artifacts through human intervention. Through these two bodies of work, I delve into the profound relationship between humanity and its creations, shedding light on the beauty and complexity that arise from our interactions with the world. In my chiaroscuro portraiture, I seek to capture the essence of the human spirit by delicately playing with light and shadow. The interplay of light and dark highlights the depth and complexity of emotions, unveiling the hidden layers of the human psyche. Through the careful rendering of facial features and the intricate dance of shadows, I aim to create intimate portraits that invite viewers to contemplate the universality of human experiences. Within my series of mass-produced objects, I explore the transformative power of human touch and intervention. Everyday items such as crushed cans, crumpled branded bags, or disposable coffee cups become vessels of individual narratives. By juxtaposing these familiar objects against the backdrop of our consumerist culture, I challenge the viewer to reevaluate their relationship with the material world and consider the imprint of human presence. Through both portraiture and object representation, the human figure remains a constant presence in my work. Whether it is the intricate expressions on a face or the traces left by our hands on inanimate objects, the human touch serves as a reminder of our agency and influence in shaping the world around us. I strive to capture the tension between the mass-produced and the individual, exploring the delicate balance between conformity and personal expression. In the realm of portraiture, I aim to evoke a sense of empathy and connection, inviting viewers to recognize themselves in the faces of my subjects. Through the portrayal of predominantly female figures, I explore themes of identity, femininity, and the societal expectations placed upon women. By highlighting the unique qualities and narratives of these individuals, I seek to challenge preconceived notions and foster a deeper understanding of the diverse range of human experiences. In the realm of objects, I invite viewers to contemplate the stories embedded within the mundane.
