This May I planted beautiful orange and purple dahlias. A ruby throated hummingbird came to the feeder. It’s a glorious month, bright with color, despite the pandemic that swirls around us. I used Oil to get a translucent effect. Canvas stretched on wood, wired for hanging. The borders are painted the same color as the background.

I grew up in Los Angeles, where the bright colors of blue sky and bougainvillea were a daily constant. I now live in New Jersey, where the varied colors of the seasons parade before my senses. I consider myself a figurative expressionist. I paint people, birds, dogs, cats and flowers. I seek to reveal the inner soul. I'm not interested in clichés or surface appeal. I'm told my strength is in transmitting feeling through color. I paint in Oil and Acrylic. Among the artists I am most inspired by: Modigliani, Matisse, Georgia O'Keefe, Utamaro and Kirchner.
