This painting has been in my studio for a year or so. I met up with a friend to go walking in Hampstead when it snowed. We were the only people there. The Heath looked so different and I was inspired to paint snow which I haven't done very often. It was completed early this year. Giving the painting some warm touches which I felt it needed

Lynda Minter trained at St Martins School of Art in 1983. Lynda’s Landscapes and City paintings are inspired by her walks and travels. Over the years Lynda has taken her sketchbook everywhere. She aims to make images which have a life of their own. Lynda does not paint pictures to a system or a formula she is striving to find a personal response by observation and drawing. Having developed visual shorthand of mark making over the years. Lynda is a long admirer of David Bomberg, Sargent, Edward Seago, Monet and Van Gogh for his lovely colours and Oskar Kokoschka for his use of bright colours in his paintings of the Thames. Lynda believes it’s important to observe and learn from other artists but remain true to oneself. Method of working Lynda either works directly in front of her subject or paints from sketches. She is constantly looking at ways of making her paintings more exciting which often involves overlapping patterns, shapes, and line, producing spontaneous images within each composition experiencing them together as one coherent picture. Lynda uses different techniques, often painting over images either in acrylic or oils. Taking risks by adding other mediums such as chalk using her fingers, end of brushes, rags, large brushes, applying expressive, spontaneous brushstrokes allowing the paint to speak for itself.
