Seokyung Cho is a visual artist and painter whose practice centers on the relationship between nature, memory, and emotion. Her work examines how personal experiences of landscape and travel evolve into visual reflections of the self. Through painting, she translates sensory impressions and emotional traces into color, exploring the ways in which memory shapes perception. Rather than depicting physical scenery, Cho’s paintings evoke the emotional resonance of places revisited through recollection. Her use of color and texture serves as a language of feeling — a means of transforming transient sensations into a contemplative visual experience. Each work captures the shifting boundary between inner emotion and external reality, inviting viewers to engage with the subtle interplay of perception and remembrance. In her recent body of work, Cho focuses on the temporality of emotion — how moments of connection with nature linger within human consciousness and resurface over time. By reconstructing these impressions through sensuous color and atmospheric composition, she investigates how memory can act as both an archive of emotion and a source of renewed understanding. Cho’s practice ultimately seeks to visualize the continuity between nature and the human psyche, positioning painting as a space for reflection, empathy, and the rediscovery of emotional presence in everyday life.
