Aldo Cherres (b. 1971) is an artist whose work is deeply rooted in his connection to nature, imagination, and dreams. Working primarily in oil paint and charcoal on hand-prepared canvases, Cherres creates pieces that are objective in form yet layered with symbolic meaning and emotional depth. Influenced by painterly traditions from both the past and present—as well as by a wide range of sources that often emerge unconsciously—his work bridges personal experience with universal themes. While his Peruvian heritage subtly informs his visual language, much of his creative impulse arises intuitively, shaped by memory, instinct, and inner reflection. Born in Lima, Peru in 1971, Cherres studied graphic design at Toulouse Lautrec Institute of Art in Lima, Perú in 1990, immigrated to US and continued his art education at Florida Atlantic University from 1997 to 2001. From then on, he started painting professionally. He had his first solo exhibition at a prominent local institution, The Cultural Council for Palm Beach in 2024, a pivotal moment in his career. He also is in the permanent collection of Museu Europeu d’Art Modern and his paintings have been collected in North America, Europe and Australia.
