How does sincerity relate to authenticity? Can one be sincere without being authentic, or are these concepts inherently connected? Jean-Paul Sartre, a central figure in existentialist philosophy, would likely argue that sincerity and authenticity are deeply intertwined. For Sartre, authenticity involves living in accordance with one’s true self, free from the influence of societal expectations and self-deception. Sincerity, in this context, is a manifestation of authenticity—it is the expression of one’s genuine thoughts and feelings. Sartre might claim that sincerity without authenticity is hollow, as true sincerity must come from an authentic engagement with one’s own existence. Without authenticity, sincerity could merely reflect conformity to external norms rather than a true expression of the self. Søren Kierkegaard, a philosopher often considered a precursor to existentialism, would emphasize that true sincerity must come from an authentic relationship with oneself and with God. For Kierkegaard, the "authentic" individual is one who confronts the angst of existence and makes choices rooted in a deep sense of personal responsibility. Sincerity, then, is an outward expression of this inner authenticity. Without a genuine internal struggle and commitment to one’s own beliefs and values, sincerity may lack substance. For Kierkegaard, being sincere without authenticity might lead to a form of self-deception, where one appears genuine but lacks a true connection to their own beliefs. In contrast, Friedrich Nietzsche might argue that sincerity can exist without authenticity, but it would lack the depth and power that comes with truly embracing one’s own will to power. Nietzsche would see sincerity without authenticity as a kind of shallow honesty, where one might express what they think is true without truly confronting or understanding the deeper drives and values that define their existence.

Welcome to my webshop! I'm a 32-year-old artist from Zagreb, Croatia, with over a decade of professional experience in painting. My work has found its place in private collections across the globe, spanning all continents and nearly every country. In my art, I strive to blend my two passions—art and philosophy. Each of my paintings goes beyond mere aesthetics, aiming to evoke deep emotions or represent a philosophical question. This approach guides not only my creative process but also the way I present my work on this site. For every painting you’ll find here, I’ve highlighted a specific philosophical problem or question, offering just one of the many interpretations the artwork can inspire. I primarily work with oil on canvas, but my artistic expression isn't limited to just one medium. I also explore and utilize a wide range of other techniques, including watercolor, pastels, charcoal, graphite, gouache, acrylics, and more.
