Hue Before the Storm Painting

I am a colorist with a keen interest in the beauty of nature. I draw inspiration from the colors of the sunrise and sunset, from flora and fauna, and from the amazing light that illuminates broad skies and landscapes. My work takes the dream-like form of ethereal, abstract landscapes which are rich in texture and have a depth of color. My abstractions are de-constructed landscapes reflecting similar elements and emotions but the imagery is broken down into levels of color with undertones of poetic forms. I strive to evoke a sense of land not just the reality of the scene. This piece was inspired by the midwest. What I love is the peacefulness combined with the rich energy. I also love the drips and textures. The paint process is one that I strive to give the paint a voice and do what it does, drips, runs and blends. It is dance with the painting and process that develops during its creation.
