About The Artwork

Still life is a chance to group objects together that create a story. Fruit and flowers are a classic combination and the colours of the white hydrangea, slightly on the turn, really complemented the lemons. I cut the lemons to show the juicy inside to give that sense of the sharp taste and my I chose a variety of yellows and greens to create that feeling. Outside it was pouring with rain, but I was inside, listening to the rain drumming on the roof. But painting has a way of lifting you out of the weather and into another world. This is a happy painting and will look good in a corner of your room that you'd like to bright up with sunshine yellow!

I love colour.I studied Textiles and embroidery at Goldsmiths in London and went on to contribute to art and textile magazines such as 'Golden Hands" I do lots of drawing and sketching and studying the work of the masters. I resonate with the improessionists and love the free use of colour and shape. I’m a painter and printmaker. I love landscape, still life and flowers. Like Klimt, I grow flowers just to paint them! I used to paint in oils, but have recently found I am reacting to the solvents and so I am moving over to acrylics and experimenting with watercolour and pastel. My style is impressionistic and I adore colour and am influenced by the Scottish Colourists. I'm always exploring colours both seen and unseen in my work, how they relate and interact. I’ve always got a sketch book and a bit of graffite tucked in a pocket in case something catches my eye. I tend to sketch in the landscape and paint in my studio. I paint from the memory of the feeling of place, colour, mood, temperature. All of that is stored in my trusty sketch book just waiting to be let out! My work is in private collections all over the world. Now I want to make it more available.
