**"I Am Who I Am" - Right to Name and Nationality** This piece was inspired by the ongoing struggles faced by Black Algerians, particularly the discrimination they endure due to their race in their own country. Despite being indigenous to southern Algeria, they face systemic racism and stigmatization, especially when asserting their right to national identity. The artwork is a response to the harsh realities of being marginalized under the 'white Arab and Muslim only' policies that have dominated the country's social and political landscape. The title, "I Am Who I Am," reflects the innate dignity and rightful claim of these individuals to their nationality and identity, no matter the prejudice they encounter. Through this painting, I want viewers to confront the uncomfortable truth of racial discrimination and to challenge the notion of national identity being reserved for one race or group. I hope to evoke feelings of empathy, frustration, and a deeper awareness of the racial injustices that persist even in communities where shared history and culture should unify rather than divide. I want people to reflect on the universality of the right to belong and be acknowledged for who they are, without the limitations of skin color or background. I chose this medium and subject matter to give voice to a community that is often silenced or overlooked. The figurative style allows me to directly address the humanity of the subject, making the emotional and social commentary unavoidable. By focusing on the Black Algerian experience, the painting bridges personal narrative with broader human rights issues, using art as a means to inspire critical thought and action.

Listed in AKOUN database In recent years, my primary artistic focus has centered on cultivating a fresh and contemporary style. Concurrently, I've been on a journey to identify a theme that can give rise to a distinct artistic voice. This exploration has led to the creation of the 'Portraits of Life' series, inspired by authentic stories. Through my artwork, I aim to illuminate the existence of marginalized individuals, particularly children. I seek to convey the authenticity of their reality while granting them an expressive identity. My ultimate goal is to evoke an emotional response from viewers, allowing them to navigate their own feelings without imposing preconceived notions. Currently residing in France. My artwork can be found in private collections world wide.
