Spending time alone in Berlin has forced me to be more aware of my surroundings. With each day that passes I try to challenge myself. I have found that I am becoming more and more greedy. Having two arms makes me feel as though I am lacking. I wish I could have many arms so that I can create even more art. It is human nature to crave what you don’t have while not being able to appreciate what you do. Filling my canvases with my imaginations and observations is my greed. I’ve become more aware of the constantly changing landscape of the city. Things are always coming and going. However joy doesn’t come from that change, it’s daily life that creates the joy in the streets. The series I have started is meant to act like daily diary entries. I will start a new painting with what I saw and was inspired by that day and add to it little by little. Before I know it the canvas has transformed into a way of expressing the things that move and inspire me. I try to challenge myself with every new day. I fight myself to be able to express myself. I believe by doing that I am working on welcoming a new dawn into my life.
