Martin Baran’s upcoming work explores the interplay between memory, identity, and the fragility of human experience. With a focus on the constant flux of time and the dualities that shape personal transformation, Baran’s art confronts the impermanence of life—its fleeting moments, psychological states, and emotional landscapes. His practice blends a variety of media, creating immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal, offering space for profound introspection. In his latest series, "Open Secrets, Hidden Truths", Baran delves into how individuals evolve in response to both internal and external forces. This body of work reflects on the contrast between the visible and the invisible, the seen and the unseen, capturing the shifting nature of personal history. It is a meditation on the psychological and emotional landscapes that define us, questioning what is hidden and what is revealed—both to ourselves and to others. Through video, painting, journal entries, and immersive environments, Baran creates pieces that reflect the tension between permanence and decay. The works invite viewers to engage with their own relationship to time, loss, and growth, offering no clear answers but instead creating spaces to contemplate the unspoken and the unseen. At the heart of Baran's work is an exploration of human existence as a dynamic interplay of contradiction and transformation. His sculptures, often made of materials that change or deteriorate over time, reflect the psychological state of changeability, while his videos challenge our understanding of what is real and what is imagined. Returning after a period of reflection, Baran’s recent work is infused with a new depth of introspection. His art is not only a personal journey through time but also an open invitation to explore how we each experience transformation—through memory, identity, and the narratives we craft. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1992, Baran began his artistic education at the School of Applied Arts in Kosice, Slovakia, before continuing his studies in Art History at Charles University in Prague. His academic foundation in art theory and history profoundly shapes his work, enriching his understanding of cultural narratives and the role of art in perception.
