Maxim Matsevich is a Belarusian artist, born in 1990 in Grodno, living and working in Warsaw, Poland. His works focus on natural elements and states, conveying emotional atmospheres through vibrant color transitions and minimalist forms. Through the interplay of light and color, he creates scenes that invite viewers to discover a new dimension within familiar imagery. The depicted narrates the subconscious memories, a sense of a moment. Sometimes a motive is generalized into almost abstract and symbolic form. The unnoticed, lengthy state of the world is unfolding. The texture formation is guided by the composition, emphasizing its expression. The canvas's flatness is distorted by dense, layered modulations of color, concluded into elongated structures of brushstrokes, which branches off and merges again. Therefore the vibrating effect of the substance appears at different layers of space. He finds his inspiration in nature, human behavior, science fiction films, and music. The changing nature of the present, the discoveries of the French fauves and expressionists such as Derain, Nolde, and Matisse, had a significant impact on his art. Maxim is an admirer of Levitan and Kuindzhi. Maxim Matsevich’s art is a continuous exploration of light and shadow, shimmering hues, and the interplay of colors and tones. Each work is an emotional state. Maxim often focuses on creating sensations of tranquility, peace, and unity with nature.
