It Came Out Of The Sky Painting

I wanted to make a light and multi-coloured work and, as is increasingly the case with my work, I wanted to investigate ways of delineating the separate spaces and elements within the frame. But what is it 'about'? It is about the end of the world, the distortions of time and space, the moment before the comet impacts... This work sat in my studio for 2 years, being worked on in stages over that time. It went through many iterations, and I like the fact that some of these versions can be seen in the finished piece. They all contributed. The hardboard support was re-purposed from another work, and the oil paints used were artist's quality (Winsor & Newton Artists', Rowney Artists', and Michael Harding's Artists Oil Colours).
