ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In many cultures, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality and healing. In ancient Egyptian mythology, the cobra was revered and associated with protection and royalty, represented by the goddess Wadjet, who guarded the pharaoh. Notes: 1. The colors may look a little bit different depending on your screen settings. 2. The images in the room might not be to scale. B. 1969, Fu Chong is a self-taught artist based in Shanghai, China. He is renowned nationally for his iconic pattern of puzzles in 3 primary colors. Painting has been a passion of Fu Chong ever since he was a child. But he had to put down his paintbrush in the mid-1990s' due to some other commitment in his life. Fortunately enough, influenced by one of his neighbors, a late famous Chinese painter, he was able to pick up his brush again and became a full time painting artist since 2018. The inspiration of his iconic jigsaw puzzle textures came from a view woven with sunlight and leaves of the London plane trees, when sneakily cycling on an empty street around the French Concession in Shanghai one day during the COVID-19 lockdown in April, 2022. He spent more than 6 months in finishing his experimental piece of work with this new expressing artistic form. Carrying the emotional weight of the moment when painting, Fu Chong uses the 3 primary colors of RED, YELLOW and BLUE combined with his unique techniques to create masterpieces, which are very expressive and metaphorical. The puzzle of life is never complete, but every piece you find and fit together brings you closer to creating a beautiful masterpiece. You may not know what the final picture will look like, but that's okay. The beauty of life is in the journey, the process of putting the pieces together.
