I draw and paint what excites my eyes. Most exciting and motivating to me is how light creates colors and contrast more than the subject itself. Each subject identifies to me the style and materials it needs to be portrayed in. A rough pine cone might call for pen and ink with a stippling technique but a softly shaded flower may call for the fluidity of watercolors. I try to show what I see through my materials and style. My hope is to convey to the viewer what my eyes say to my hands. My career has been a journey through various forms of design, from my foundational art education with Olivia McConnel and William Storrs in my hometown of Lockport, NY to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where I earned a BFA in Industrial Design. Initially I began designing tradeshow exhibits, which evolved into a passion for home design renovation and led me to found my own design construction business, Corinthian Builders. Then together my husband and I co-developed a mobile app for boaters, which we successfully built and sold. Today, I have the joy of focusing on my personal art in my studios, in North Carolina and Rhode Island, primarily working with watercolor, graphite, and pen & ink. I still make time for the occasional home renovation project, a skill set I love to share with family and friends. My work has been in Common Fence Point’s “Friends and Family Invitational”, several Portsmouth Art Guild shows and most recently won 3rd place in the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s show “Chromatic”. I have been fortunate to have several collectors add my work to their homes in the Northeast and North Carolina.
