ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was inspired by classic Italian Renaissance paintings. I use extra-fine oil colors and high-quality linen canvas to create my paintings. I combined the grace and delicate nudity of the woman with the fruits of the gardens in Sicily. I would like to convey a sense of love for beauty.

Professional artist and illustrator since 25 years. Maurizio Gemelli was born and lives in Messina. He decided to refine his aptitude for figurative disciplines at the European Institute of Design in Rome, where he earned a Degree in Illustration in 1999 with a score of 110 out of 110, with a thesis in 3D computer graphics, which emerged from a fruitful collaboration with the University of Tor Vergata as part of an experimental research project on the graphical setup of Internet sites. His passion for art is constantly accompanied by a keen interest in virtual graphics: in 2001, the video game Land of Genesis was published by the English company Clearwater Interactive, for which he handled programming and graphics. He also worked on the publication of video games as Lead Artist for the American companies Clickboom and Cinemaware. In 2005, he co-founded the computer graphics company Dead Graphic Society, where he serves as a 3D Graphic Designer and Lead Artist. Meanwhile, he worked as an illustrator for Clearwater, Apc/Tcp, Synsoniq, and NFM productions, in addition to creating storyboards and comics as a designer, screenwriter, and colorist. His works as a colorist notably include those for the American company Axiom in the volume Fusillade. In recent years, he has undertaken a full-time career as a painter, participating in and organizing solo exhibitions. Currently, as a co-founder of the Mondo Sostenibile Cooperative and Art Director at the Galleria Arte Cavour, he continues to make art his primary means of expression and identifies Caravaggio and Norman Rockwell as his illustrious models. As a matte painter artist, he has worked for 22 Dogs, Sky TV, Enel, Millennium Media, and Vendian, creating matte paintings for TV commercials and international films such as “Day of the Dead: Bloodline” and “Under the Silver Lake.”
