JIWOO SHIN - SACRED Painting

Based in Jakarta, Jiwoo Shin a second-generation Korean artist, builds abstract paintings that are constructed in a calculated yet intuitive manner by layering, removing, and blending collectively whilst investigating texture, contrast and luminosity. She has received her BFA in General Fine Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland. Her passion for art education has led her to intern at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and serve as an Academic Coach at MICA, Baltimore Maryland. She showcased her solo exhibition ‘Unveiling Luminosity’ (2021) in Baltimore, Maryland and her work has been featured in multiple group shows and fairs: ‘Art Moments 2023’ in Jakarta and Bali, ‘Liminality: 2022’, in New York, ‘Her Ideas, Her Stories: Women Artists Exhibit’ (2022), in Maryland, ‘PAFA Crosscurrents Juried Exhibition’ (2019) in Pennsylvania and many more. Her works are also owned by various private collections across Jakarta, Maryland, Michigan, Florida and Washington DC.
