John Lennon by Daisy Elizabeth Arkwright Painting

After my Grandad passed in the summer of 2020, I found comfort in listening to The Beatles, one of his favourite bands. After finding a real connection with their music, I wanted to channel my emotion into an artwork of John Lennon, his looks were very striking and he was a musical genius who I thought deserved to have a portrait painted. I'm hoping that I can pass this piece on to someone who admires Lennon as much as I do! I chose to use oil paints as it is a workable medium which I prefer, and I painted on the back of a canvas board. I very randomly stumbled across this method after I decided I wasn't fond of the grooves and texture found using the intended canvas side. I liked the smoothness I felt when applying the paint, as well as the fact that it absorbed excess oil in my paint which allowed me to achieve a smoother, matte effect. I have varnished this painting, and I am selling 25 limited edition prints of it. It will not come framed or mounted.
