About The Artwork
Ever since I was little I dreamed of Alaska. I didn't know much more about the 49th state than its’ tourism campaign about being “America's last frontier.” When I was twelve I had a belt buckle with a grizzly bear on it and I scratched into the back of it "Alaska or bust." I'm not sure I even knew what that meant. Thirty-Five years after I scratched into the belt buckle I finally made it to Alaska. This little painting is my attempt to capture a tiny piece of the state's beauty.
