Nicandro Merxelino. Born 1969 on the island Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. Lives and works in Amsterdam,Holland, Oslo Norway and Willemstad ,Curacao, N.A . studied at the Art Academie in Amsterdam. In March 2004 I lost my left eye. It took me 2 years of recovery to restart my work. This made a change in the way I see. When I sit in front of a blank canvas, I like to fill up the smallest space with as much energy as possible.To absorb the thoughts of the historical past in the minds of the people who stand watching in the present, trying to see the future.I'm trying to be as much as I can in the past and the present to create my space and independence. Observing everything I feel, analyzing fully with my brain and putting myself in the emptiness, that create real happiness for me in my live.
