La luce è nell'ottica fisica la radiazione elettromagnetica percepita dall'occhio umano. Come onde corte confine intervallo spettrale occupato la luce, adottato di terreno con lunghezze d'onda nel vuoto 380-400 nm (750-790 Thz), così come all'infrarosso confine — fase 760-780 nm (385-395 Thz)[1]. In senso più ampio, utilizzato al di fuori di fisica ottica, la luce è spesso chiamato qualsiasi radiazione ottica[2], ovvero la radiazione elettromagnetica, le lunghezze d'onda che vanno con approssimazioni confini delle unità nanometri di decimi di millimetro[3]. In questo caso, nel concetto di «luce», oltre alla radiazione visibile, sono incluse sia le radiazioni infrarosse che quelle ultraviolette. La sezione della fisica in cui viene studiata la luce è chiamata ottica. Inoltre, soprattutto in Fisica Teorica, il termine luce può a volte agire semplicemente sinonimo del termine radiazione elettromagnetica, indipendentemente dalla sua frequenza, specialmente quando la concretizzazione non è importante, ma vuole, ad esempio, usare una parola più breve. La luce può essere considerata sia come onda elettromagnetica, la velocità di propagazione nel vuoto di cui è costante, sia come flusso di fotoni — particelle con una certa energia, impulso, un momento di slancio e zero massa (o, come detto in precedenza, zero massa di riposo).
