LIGHT CURTAIN Painting

Edi is a Polish-born, American artist based in Hawaii. She prefers to paint with oils and uses traditional methods of layering and glazing. Edi's sentiment for oil painting can be traced back to early childhood when she used to spend days watching her grandfather paint in his studio filled with turpentine vapors and cigarette smoke. He was her first and most patient teacher. By the age of 14, Edi was painting on her own. Later in life she graduated from law school, only to get back to painting with an even greater passion. Throughout her late twenties Edi continued to take art classes, including an intense study of Classical Realism painting techniques with emphasis on portraiture. Today, Edi is a full time artist and considers herself a contemporary realist painter. She makes her subjects attractive to modern audiences through incorporating abstract elements, applying unconventional color schemes and surreal settings. At the same time, she strives to meet the rigorous standards of realism by paying attention to detail and constantly perfecting her drawing skills. She finds inspiration in nature, common day subjects and other humans.
