About The Artwork
La Puerta Azul painting is inspired by a main doorway of a fortified city of Toledo in Spain. Toledo was once the capital of the Imperial Spain before it was moved to Madrid. This city has myriad of cultural history from the three religious groups: Muslims, Jews and Christians. It has been many times compared to Jerusalem in its historical landscape. The architecture plays off its antique Roman roots with Moorish influences. It has many arches, walls, cobbled stone streets and ancient buildings.
