About The Artwork

'All My Yesterdays' Artist Statement All our varied life experiences shape who we are today. They make us uniquely us. In this collection of paintings, ‘All My Yesterday’s’, I am revealing my emotional response to formative times in my life. Some of the paintings show reflections, a disembodied version of the past that is carried forward with us in life. These reflections easily distort and we may manifest them in different ways. Perhaps only sometimes we are able to choose part we take with us. Often in these paintings the building up of many marks is parallel to the layered complexity and intricacies that form us. Each mark I have made is a piece of me, of my past and who I am. At times I have infused light and whimsy into my works to evoke joy and optimism. This is partly as an antidote to these difficult recent times, where a dark mood can easily settle around us. These uncertain times will become our yesterdays. We will move forward and they too will help define us in the future.

My art studio and gallery is based in the beautiful coastal town of Inverloch, South Gippsland, nestled between the calm turquoise waters of Anderson’s Inlet and the rugged coastline of Bunurong Marine National Park in Australia. I have always had a deep connection to nature and the coastal lifestyle, with the ocean being a common theme in my large-scale abstracts. This is also reflected in the pure expression of movement and colour in my work. My paintings seem to capture the ephemeral ebb and flow of the ocean – it’s tumultuous beauty, fierce storms, calm tides – of changing moods, energy and colours. My expanding body of work now includes several series and numerous major commissions. I have recently been featured in both Coast and Art Edit magazines as one of the 'artists to watch'.
