About The Artwork
"Larnyx" is one of seven beaded works I made of internal organs on vintage handkerchiefs while living and teaching in Southeast Michigan. I had been watching the Oscars telecast on television and was enamored with the crystal covered bags many women were carrying. I thought it would be really funny if someone had a crystal covered stomach purse with candy or snakes stored inside. Since I wasn't ready to make a 3-dimensional object, I began exploring the organs as beaded illustrations; making the visceral forms colorful and almost botanical like.
