About The Artwork

mountains - monumental majestic giants, who have been observing the hustle and bustle of the human world for millennia, retaining memories of meteor showers, dinosaurs, and the first humans. they provide refuge for spiritual ascetics and pleasure for hikers. mountains, a place of power, strength, and healing. a daring journey to one of the highest points of azerbaijan, my homeland, with 8 hours of hiking and 2 nights in camp - this is how i welcomed the year 2022. it was a challenging journey in every way: the village of laza, near which i stayed, also became the place where i affirmed a new state of mind and spirit for myself. there, i was finally convinced that my severe depressive episode had ended, and a new eye of life and creativity was opened. shaven, deeply immersed in yogic teachings and the study of spiritual texts, i documented this transformative process in the painting "january in laza" (2022). this abstract landscape conveys the sense of divine power presence that i so clearly observed through nature. the medium of oil paints allowed me to convey lightness, the canvas texture conveyed the intimate interiority, the pastel color palette became the direct result of the changing internal state, and the soft, "flowing" forms allow the viewer to empathize with my "flexible" state of soul.

in my work, i focus on the study of colors, their combinations and the relationship of color perception with the psychical state of the observer. communicating with the viewer through the juxtaposition of different color schemes, i am constantly looking for new ways to pull repressed emotions and feelings from the subconscious zone into the light of consciousness. my inspiration comes from wide rage of sources; I have been hugely affected by Wassily Kandinsky, Japanese culture, Expressionism and Asian Calligraphy. my techniques: watercolor, acrylic, collage and digital illustration
